New Home for Chanhassan
Dear Friends,
We have been blessed with a unique opportunity for spiritual growth because of the presence of dedicated Buddhist monks who preserved and passed on the Dharma for over 2500 years. That dedication, reflected so well in Bhante Sathi’s teachings, has resulted in a growing TGN community in Minnesota. The monks serving the TGN Minnesota community depend solely on our contributions to provide for their daily needs so that they may continue serving us.
Two years ago, TGN opened a meditation center and monks residence in Mankato. This center supported expansion of the program offerings, meditation classes, retreats and availability of the monks for spiritual support in the Mankato area. This led to the growth of the TGN Mankato community, enhancing the lives of many in the community. The Mankato Center has recently moved into a house in Mankato that was generously donated as a temporary monks residence and meditation center.
At the same time, TGN’s expanding presence in the Twin Cities (Chanhassen, Minnetonka and Stillwater) area is challenging us. Using the Mankato Center model, we would like to provide a space in the Chanhassen area that would function as a local monks’ residence and meeting place. This would provide for an expanded TGN presence in the Twin Cities while addressing the increasing demands of travel, particularly on Bhante Sathi.
This center will provide accommodation for two monks who will instruct our community in meditation and the teachings of the Buddha. We will be able to meet with the monks at any time of the week. We will be able to expand our programs, which will allow us to grow as a spiritual community and as individuals.
There is much suffering in the world, and our lives are overflowing with busy-ness. Help us create a space in the Chanhassen area where we can come to learn to live our lives with more compassion and mindfulness, or to simply come and sit quietly in the peaceful energy of the meditation center. Blessed with a gifted and dedicated teacher, Bhante Sathi, the Chanhassen mindfulness/meditation center has the potential to become an oasis of compassion and loving kindness for our community.
There is no guarantee that the Buddha's loving message will continue to be spread - or that our monks will be able to stay with us– it requires our support. This support represents more than just a financial contribution as giving dana is a major step on the Buddhist spiritual path. Without dana, the Buddha's teachings would not be here for us today.
The Triple Gem board is grateful for your past generosity and asks that you consider how you can best support the continuing work of Bhante Sathi and the other monks. We are seeking your financial support to keep our current programs going and to support this expansion. Your commitment to an annual or monthly donation would be especially helpful as we move forward with our plans to make this center a reality. Your pledge of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
May the Triple Gem bless you with incomparable joy and peace,
Frank Fassino
