Description: This
course is based on
collected Buddhist
Sutras. We will
specifically study
Suttas on how to
cultivate joy and health
in daily life.
Students will be given
reading material to take
home. The class will
include lecture by
Bhante Sathi as well as
group discussion and
quizzes. Group work in
class will reinforce
understanding of the
Buddha's
intricate teachings on
human relationships and
politics. Topics will
include:
What is a
Buddha
History of the different
schools of Buddhism
The meaning of life
according to
Buddha
How to cultivate
harmonious
relationships.
Methods to maintain
better interpersonal
connections
How to governor a
country
Requirements: Read
What the Buddha Taught
by Walpola Rahula,
available at the Center
for a $5 suggested
donation. Beginners and
advanced practitioners
are welcome.
