Water project update
In a recent visit to Sri Lanka, Bhante Sathi and Bhante Kamala both had reason to celebrate. On May 4, the community gathered round in the small village of Maradankdawala because fresh water could once again flow for the 1,600 men, women and children who live and go to school there.
In recent years, their main water supply was tainted because of the fact that farming chemicals had leeched into the main water supply. A fundraising effort began a couple years or so ago, and generous donors from Triple Gem of the North and elsewhere had helped raise money for this life-saving project.
While the water is indeed flowing at this time, there is still an opportunity to become a part of this project. The firm that manufactured the filtration system agreed to install it and get it operational so the village would have more time to seek funding to cover the costs. At this time, there is still a $3,000 U.S. balance remaining until the project, worth more than $18,000 is fully funded. If you’d like to become a donor, please send an email to Bhante Sathi at [email protected]
Please send your donation today to Triple Gem of the North, 212 N Chestnut St, Chaska MN 55318. As always, if you have any questions, contact us at [email protected]
Thank you and much metta to you for your generosity.
Support a Child
The concept of parents being unable to support their child financially with school needs and clothing is a troublesome but very real issue. Triple Gem of the North is proud to take active action with these families’ time of need by allowing you to sponsor a child in Sri Lanka. With your generosity of 20 dollars per month for one year you will be able to help a Sri Lankan child afford necessities like school supplies and clothing. The entirety of your 20 dollars per month will be donated to a child ten years of age or younger. You may also choose to pay for the year in full for $240 which would help the expenses reach their maximum benefit to the sponsored child for the year. The child that you will be sponsoring will most likely be a student with adequate grades and in desperate need of school supplies. The child will also belong to a single parent or a large family in a rural area in Sri Lanka.
Triple Gem of the North is a nonprofit organization dedicated to practicing generosity and compassion through the teachings of Buddhism and meditation located in Chaska MN. If you would like to contribute to this project, please contact Bhante Sathi, founder of Triple Gem of the North, to get signed up for the year. Once you have been signed up, you may write a check to Triple Gem of the North located in Mankato MN and write ‘Help a Child’ in the memo. To donate or ask questions, please contact Bhante Sathi via email at [email protected] or phone 612-216-4854 before donating, your help is greatly appreciated. As previously stated, all of your money will be forwarded to a child in desperate need.
